FYLSE Essay Theories Tested By Year

The FYLSE is one of the largest hurdles an online law student must face in order to become an attorney.  The FYLSE tests on Contracts, Torts, and Criminal Law.  Model answers are posted on the CalBar Website.  Some of the model answers, both A and B, matched in issue spotting but others did not.  For this reason we have pulled as many essays and model answers for as far back as was possible (2007), identified the issues, and then tracked them for you below.

It is almost impossible to know all the rule statements, identify all the issues, and score 100% on the FYLSE; but we believe that with the right information you can get pretty close!  As you can see from the chart above, Murder, Negligence and Formation are at the top.  This should help guide you when studying.  Murder is the most commonly tested theory in Criminal Law, Negligence is the most commonly tested theory in Torts, and Formation is the most commonly tested theory in Contracts.

In order to make it a bit more user friendly we have broken down the giant graph above into its separate parts; therefore clearly enabling you to see the most commonly tested areas.
